We are seeking candidates to assist as temporary house directors

Reports to: House Director Professionals

Position Overview

We are seeking dependable and organized temporary house directors to oversee daily operations of collegiate chapter facilities when needed. This live-in role would be responsible for ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for residents while—if necessary—coordinating with vendors, students, and leadership. A temporary house director would act as the substitute when the regular facility house director must be away from the house overnight while students are in residence. The length of the stay can range from one night to several months depending on the situation.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Safety Management

  • Maintain a safe and secure living environment for residents

  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of the property (interior and exterior)

  • Monitor and maintain safety systems (alarms, extinguishers, locks, etc.)

  • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly

House Operations & Maintenance

  • Provide access to vendors for repairs and maintenance if necessary

  • Assist with minor upkeep and errands as needed

Resident Support & Community Environment

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and home-like atmosphere

  • Serve as a consistent, approachable adult presence in the home

  • Promote cleanliness, shared responsibility, and respectful behavior

Compliance & Conduct

  • Ensure adherence to house rules and university policies

  • Document and report any incidents appropriately

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in property management, hospitality, or residential life preferred

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage vendors, students, and multiple priorities

  • Comfortable with basic technology (email, spreadsheets, reporting tools)

  • Ability to handle physical tasks (walking property, lifting, stairs, etc.)

Additional Details

  • Temporary house directors must live in the house (nights are required) during the length of the stay

  • Regular availability is expected for resident support and operations

  • No overnight guests permitted
